01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Nutbush City Limits is a charming breakfast restaurant that masterfully combines hearty, American-style morning fare with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're fueling up for a busy day or enjoying a leisurely weekend brunch, this local gem serves up a menu bursting with flavor and generous portions that satisfy both the eyes and the appetite.

At Nutbush City Limits, breakfast lovers are treated to a delightful variety of dishes, from carefully crafted omelets to indulgent griddle specialties. Their omelets are a particular standout — the Ultimate Six is a symphony of six eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, and rich cheddar cheese, all layered atop golden hash browns. It's not just a meal; it's a satisfying experience that communicates the care and quality put into each plate.

For those with a sweet tooth, the “Hot Off The Griddle” options are irresistible. The Beer Batter Hotcakes and French Toast Slices can be customized your way, but the Stuffed French Toast steals the show with its luscious cream cheese center and choice of vibrant strawberries, juicy blueberries, or tangy cherries, all crowned with whipped cream—a sensory delight that captures cozy, comforting mornings perfectly. The Belgian Waffle, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with your preferred toppings, also offers a sublime balance of crisp edges and soft, fluffy insides.

Nutbush City Limits doesn’t overlook the smaller pleasure of classic breakfast accompaniments either. Their cinnamon rolls exude a warm, sweet aroma that invites indulgence, while the various a la carte sides like hash browns, tater tots, and “Nutbush Style” potatoes provide hearty, flavorful options to round out any meal.

The essence of Nutbush goes beyond the food. Diners repeatedly praise the inviting and attentive service, with customers like Tom Wibes noting the genuine warmth and friendliness of the young servers, which elevates the dining experience and makes patrons feel truly valued. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and vibrant, offering family-friendly vibes that make it easy to settle in for a pleasant morning gathering or a cozy meal with friends.

While some visitors mention the prices may feel a touch above average, it’s clear that the quality, generous portions, and overall experience more than justify the investment. Whether you’re tackling the chili-cheese hamburger omelet bursting with zesty, melted cheddar and savory chili, or indulging in the comfort of a loaded potato breakfast layered with bacon and chives, Nutbush City Limits delivers a consistently satisfying experience that invites return visits.

In essence, Nutbush City Limits is more than a breakfast stop — it’s a celebration of morning meals done right, where friendly faces and thoughtful flavors come together. For locals and travelers alike who crave hearty, flavorful breakfasts served with genuine hospitality, this is a must-visit destination in Onalaska.

Had breakfast. Was delicious, nice sized servings. Food comes out hot. The 2 young servers were super courteous and friendly. Makes your meal so much nicer having a person with the right personality waiting on your table. Had a very enjoyable time visiting and eating with a couple old buddies. Will be back

Service was really good, food came out hot and it didn't take that long. Very nice portions of food and my burger was really good. I'd eat here again if I'm in the area, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to do it. If I have anything less positive to say, it would be that I felt the prices were a bit high, but that seems to be the standard these days. Definitely not over the top by any means. Also, please update the online menu, it's really old.

Great place for breakfast. We ordered the ultimate omelette and the Bravacado Benedict. The omelette was so large. We weren’t even able to finish half of it. But it was good. The Benedict was ok. I would probably try something different. Good atmosphere. Family friendly vibes for all. Overall I’d recommend to visit as it’s not a restaurant chain.

Food and service were great!. We enjoied the Loaded Mexican Hashbrowns, a Beer Battered Pancake, and the County Fried Steak. Only a complaint was after we were seated a group waiting for a table gathered right behind us and was extremely loud. Even the staff were annoyed because they were blocking their way to other tables multiple times.
